Building Master Plan
Our facility master plan was developed in 2020 when we were permitted to again begin collecting money for our parish building fund at the conclusion of the On the Way Ándale capital campaign.
The first phase of the master plan consisted of the construction of a facility for our Society of St. Vincent de Paul (SVdP) ministry which provides food and financial assistance to the most needy in our community. That project was completed in January, 2024 at a cost of approximately 1.3 million dollars.
The next step of our building acitivies involved construction of a multi-use pavilion at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, our mission church, in Marion, TX. That project was completed in August 2024 at a cost of approximately $300,000.00.
The second phase of the Good Shepherd master plan is to construct a family center for Church of the Good Shepherd. The architectural design portion of this project has been completed and the estimated cost of the structure will be approximately 8 million dollars. We will need 50 percent of that amount to begin construction. In order to raise those funds, we have advised the parish that we need large donations in the total amount of 4 million dollars to begin construction. As of the middle of 2025 we have not yet received enough to initiate construction of the planned family center. We are hopeful that the funds will materialize. Until we have the money on hand, the family center project is on hold.
In the meantime, in order to accommodate small parish gatherings such as wedding or funeral receptions, we have modified our existing reception space to accommodate up to 120 people.
Future plans beyond the family center include an expansion of the existing church narthex (foyer) as well as construction of a new chapel which will seat approximately 75 people. In addition, we would like to construct a plaza and pavilion to connect the family center and church.
We have also added a solar panel array at the back of the property to help meet our electrical needs now and for the future.
Our goal is to make Church of the Good Shepherd and Immaculate Conception Mission a welcoming, functional, and spiritual environment for generations to come.
Any feedback is welcome and we encourage you to support our master plan by contributing to our building fund. Our current balance is approximately $500,000 so every contribution is helpful.
