 WHAT IS EDGE?

Edge at Good Shepherd and Immaculate Conception is our primary Faith Formation for Middle School Youth. Edge came about after the great success of Life Teen. Edge shares the mission of leading teens closer to Christ. and is a place where youth (in middle school) can build community with other youth in the parish while cultivating a personal relationship with our Lord. Edge also offers a safe, fun, engaging and spiritually stimulating environment for middle school youth who want or need to build a better understanding of their faith.

WHO IS EDGE FOR?

Edge is for youth of all middle school grades: 6th, 7th, and 8th.

IS THERE A CURRICULUM FOR EDGE?

Yes. Edge follows a curriculum designed to be engaging to middle school youth. Through 6 different semester themes, it covers all of the essential teachings of the Catholic faith.

WHO RUNS EDGE?

Because of its unique dynamic, Edge is comprised of a CORE group of adults and high school teens. There is not one “teacher” because it is not a “class”. This team consists of a Coordinator and a group of dedicated volunteers. Edge CORE members assume the role of “relational minister”. This is a way that we can follow the model of Christ by teaching through relationships. Contact Bert to find out how you can be part of this incredible ministry.

WHAT IS RELATIONAL MINISTRY?

Relational ministry reflects the model that Christ showed us. This model encourages the CORE to pray for the teens by name and getting to know the teens’ interests and values. This also involves challenging teens to go deeper in their faith. Most importantly, as relational ministers, we are responsible for creating a comfortable place for teens to talk about God.

WHEN IS EDGE?

EDGE meets Wednesday evenings, 6:30 - 8:30 PM. (6:30-7:00 PM optional social time)

HOW CAN I HELP?

Prayer is the most important way to support the Life Teen and Edge Ministries at both communities. It is through the power of the Holy Spirit that we are able to be fruitful with this ministry. If you are interested in using your time, talents, or treasure to help this ministry, please contact Bert Hernandez.

We thank you for all of your support. To learn more about Edge, visit their website.
