A.C.T.S. Ministry
An ACTS retreat is a three-day, three-night Catholic lay retreat presented by fellow parishioners as Apostolic Christians Teaching for Service (ACTS). Talks and activities will focus on Adoration, Community, Theology, and Service. Holy Scripture and the teachings of the Catholic Church are the guidelines for the retreat. The purpose of the retreat is to instill in the retreatant a new and deeper relationship with our Lord and fellow parishioners through prayer, fellowship, and the teachings of the Catholic faith, and the experience of service to our Lord, our parish, and each other.
Faith Formation
The term “faith formation” is sometimes used as a synonym for religious education classes (which many still call “Sunday School or CCD). Education is a critical part of Faith Formation. To have our faith and life formed by God’s love in Christ, we need to know something about the story of God, what it means that God loves us, and how God wants us to act in our daily lives. Good Shepherd and Immaculate Conception (GSIC) Faith Formation strives to help children and their families grow in a relationship with God and His Church. Hospitality
This ministry welcomes new members and hosts events that encourage fellowship in the parish community throughout the year. Events include potlucks, receptions, and the annual Christmas party.
R.C.I.A.
Right of Christian Initiation of Adults (RCIA) is the formal process of preparing Adults for full membership into the Catholic Church. It is for all adults who are interested in a journey of faith, whether they are curious about the Catholic Church; desire to become Catholic, or those who have not received all the sacraments. R.C.I.A. brings about many changes that modern Christians are looking for in order to share the work of God, prayer, faith sharing, Catholic Doctrine, and building friendship in the Lord which builds a real faith community.
These classes are also for those seeking more information about the Catholic Church. All questions are welcome. We invite those attending to fully participate in the class, meaning that no question will be left unanswered (we hope!). We know that you have an inquiring mind, and we respect the fact you are looking for a comfortable position in your faith journey. But, the very fact that you are now uncomfortable with what you believe, or want to believe, is a sign that the Holy Spirit is at work in you and you are listening to what He is trying to tell you. Let us help with your understanding and help solidify your trust in the One True God. If you have any further questions, you may either call the Church Office at 210-658-4350
